American Studies Research Showcase

On February 4th, Georgetown Humanities, in collaboration with the American Studies Program, hosted the American Studies Senior Research showcase. Seniors in the program gathered in Old North 205 to discuss their innovative interdisciplinary thesis projects.

Co-organized by the American Studies Program and the Georgetown Humanities Initiative, this presentation series allowed students to discuss the interdisciplinary research process that undergirds their work. With the support of faculty advisers from departments including music, English, history, and anthropology, and a two-semester thesis capstone course, the American Studies seniors create projects that highlight core values shared by the Georgetown Humanities Initiative and the American Studies program – rigorous undergraduate research, innovative humanities-based scholarship, and the potential for public engagement. In the course of this event, attendees could appreciate the rationale for each research project ahead of the students’ thesis completion at the end of the Spring semester.
