Georgetown Humanities in Barcelona as Official Partner of Georgetown Global Dialogues
From November 3-6, 2025, GHI Inaugural Director Prof. Nicoletta Pireddu represented the Georgetown Humanities Initiative at the Georgetown Global Dialogues in Barcelona.

In partnership with the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), the Georgetown Global Dialogues—organized by Professor Thomas Banchoff (Vice President for Global Engagement) and essayist and novelist Pankash Mishra—brought together writers and critics to address the relationship between human frailty and global solidarity, with a focus on voices from the Global South. A formal program of panels featuring, among others, Ece Temelkuran, Ranjit Hoskote, Verónica Gago, Nesrine Malik, Kohei Saito, and Hisham Matar–– was flanked by informal online and in-person dialogues with undergraduate students from the Georgetown DC and Qatar campuses.
Prof. Nicoletta Pireddu participated as a panelist, together with philosopher Marina Garcés and poet Ranjit Hoskote, in the session “The Failed Promise of Secular Modernity,” moderated by GU-Q Dean Safwan Masri.

The Georgetown Global Dialogues will continue at the GU Qatar campus in March 2026.
