GRAPHSY is a symposium organized every year by the graduate students in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. It brings together students from universities across the country to present their research on Hispanic linguistics and literature (both Iberian and Latin American), participating in mentoring sessions with renowned scholars and professors from Georgetown University and other schools around the world. The 2025 GRAPHSY theme was “Emociones, sentimientos y afectos/Emoções, sentimentos e afetos/Emotions, feelings and affects.” The program included a full day of multiple concurrent sessions with compelling papers on literature, cultural studies, and linguistics, and two keynote speakers—Dr. Meagan Driver (Michigan State University) for linguistics and Dr. David Tenorio (University of Pittsburgh) for literature.

Symposium participants could further discuss and socialize at a convivial event in Old North’s Georgetown Humanities conference room.
